GOLD CLUBMARK AWARD
Burnside AFC has a Gold ClubMark award reflecting the high standards the club sets both on and off the field. The top ClubMark award is recognition that the club is viable but is also moving forward and continually looking to make things better for players, coaches, committee members and supporters. The club has a strategic plan along with well organised and well documented financial systems. The club has a website and publishes newsletters as well so all members are kept very well informed of what is happening in their club. The club acknowledges the contribution made by their volunteers, coaches and team managers and encourages members to become better qualified in whatever their field of expertise may be. ClubMark also encourages healthy living and promotes an injury freeenvironment. The Burnside club embraces these principals; it endorses safe alcohol use, promotes Smokefree amongst junior team coaches, educates the Sportsmart principals and has adopted the No Exceptions policy which means disabled people are welcomed into the club and encouraged to be come involved. The ClubMark coordinator based at Sport Canterbury, Lorraine McLeod said that chairman Craig Rhodes was adamant the club was aiming for gold from the very beginning. It was relatively easy for them to achieve a Gold because the club already had many of the required components in place but Craig could see that the extra effort needed to get maximum points was minimal and he was happy to make the changes to comply. “It was a pleasure to work with a club that wants to make improvements. Burnside is a progressive club and I wish them well for the future.” said Lorraine. _________________________________ |
